World Environment Day 2026

On World Environment Day, the Organization for the Development of People (ODP) Mysuru, in collaboration with Bhusiri Development Foundation, brought together leaders, experts, and over 1,000 farmers to champion a sustainable tomorrow. Guided by this year’s poignant theme, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future,” the convention emphasized community-driven ecological preservation and resilient agricultural practices.

We were profoundly honored by the presence and guidance of our esteemed President, Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao S.J. (Bishop of Mysore Diocese & President of ODP), who reminded us of our collective responsibility as stewards of the Earth.

The event was officially inaugurated by Mr. Jagannath N.H. (Deputy Conservator of Forest, Kaveri Wildlife Sanctuary), setting an actionable tone for conservation.

A special thank you to our distinguished guests and speakers who shared invaluable expertise:

Dr. Umesh S. (Senior Professor, Department of Biotechnology, University of Mysore) for delivering a powerful main speech on ecological biotechnology.

Mr. Ramesh (Environmentalist, Mandya) & Mr. N. Prasanna (Senior Assistant Director, Horticulture, Pandavapura) for their insights as Chief Guests.

Our Guests of Honour: Rev. Fr. Anthappa M. (Vicar General of Mysore Diocese), Rev. Fr. Tenny Kurrian (Director, ODP), Rev. Fr. John Fernandes A. (Asst. Director, ODP), and Mr. Anish M.B. (Gram Vikaas Self Help Group). Fr Ashwin Barnis

True environmental change begins at the grassroots. Seeing 1,000 farmers actively engage in this movement reinforces our mission: protecting our climate is the only way to secure our future. 🌍🌱
