Water is the lifeblood of survival for people and livestock alike — but its value is only fully realised when paired with comprehensive sanitation. Since our founding, ODP has stayed focused on the systemic challenges of water scarcity and public health in the most marginalised communities.

We work at the intersection of geography and poverty, in water-scarce regions and remote rural belts, where these two forces most often deny people a basic necessity.

Planning and implementing safe, potable drinking water projects across water-scarce regions and remote rural belts.
- Infrastructure development — bore wells, open wells, and gravity-fed water systems.
- Water conservation — rainwater harvesting and watershed management for long-term aquifer recharge.
- Community governance — local Water Committees that manage resources and ensure project longevity.
Advanced Sanitation & Hygiene
Sanitation is the first line of defence against preventable disease — moving communities to structured, hygienic environments.
- Household & institutional latrines — culturally appropriate, eco-friendly toilet facilities.
- Waste management — education on solid and liquid waste disposal to prevent contamination.
- Dignity-centred design — safety and privacy built in, particularly for women and children.
Health Advocacy & Preventive Care
Infrastructure alone can't transform a community — knowledge is the catalyst, woven into every project.
- Behaviour change communication — handwashing, menstrual hygiene management, safe water storage.
- Zoonotic disease prevention — programs that protect livestock and human health together.
- Maternal & child health — reducing infant mortality by eliminating water-borne pathogens like cholera and dysentery.
