Capacity Building Program

Background:

From the beginning, ODP’s firm conviction is that knowledge is power and the key to empowerment. The knowledge imparted by ODP is to build up the cultural and intellectual levels of people and their functional capabilities.

Goal:

To build and enhance existing knowledge and skills of the Community to fulfill the defined mission of the organization

Objectives:

  1.           To strengthen the ability of the community based organizations to set and achieve objective in a sustainable manner
  2.           To strengthen the community based organizations to take up collective actions on need based issues
  3.           To strengthen the capacity of our staff
  4.           To strengthen ODP as a resource centre

ODP is recognized as a training/learning/sharing resource centerto address multifarious training needs at local/ state/national levels. A team called THINK (Trainings for Human Inspiration and Knowledge) was established by ODP in 1998 comprising of experts and Coordinators in various fields, to plan for need based trainings of the organization and others. Awareness generation and the absorption of learning and knowledge is a continuous process, particularly in today’s development scenario. Need based trainings form an important and integral part of all ODP’s development programs.

Capacity building is done at different levels –

  1.            For grass root level leaders
  2.            For staff
  3.            For others (Outsiders) – with ODP staff as resource persons.

So far trainings are conducted in the field on followings:

Leadership, Mother & Child health & their rights, CBO Concept, Health & Hygiene, Legal awareness, Consumer rights, Domestic Violence Act, Right to Information, MGNREGA, Environment conservation, Soil & Water conservation, Tree plantation, Safe drinking water & sanitation, Income Generation program, Sustainable agriculture, Organic farming, Alternative Renewable Energy, Good Governance, Panchayathraj Institution, Gender, Entrepreneur Development Program, Electric and electronic appliance repair, Two wheeler mechanism, Tailoring  & fashion designing, Beautician course and Food processing  etc..

Till now, ODP have conducted more than 25,000 trainings, benefitting more than 750,000.

ODP as a resource center had been conducting several training on various topics for its staff members, for the people from its working areas and others as well. The Pragathi Training Center (PTC) of ODP is a great asset of immense value for trainings as it is well equipped and caters to the training needs of ODP. This Center is also being availed by various other GOs and NGOs for their training needs.
