World Sanitation Day-2014

On 19.11.2014 ODP had organized World Toilet Day at ODP campus around 10.30 am, More than 500 SHG members of Mysore participated in the program.
Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Anthony Vazhapilly, Bishop of Mysore and the president of ODP, inaugurated the program and launched the new project “Utham Urja project” (Steel cooking pots) supported by TERI, Bangalore. TERI is the institution working for Alternative Renewable Energy. And also Eco Green home light system was inaugurated by Bishop of Mysore
Dr. Kulakarni, Assistant Professor in Community Health, JSS hospital promoted awareness for the participants speaking about the importance of having household toilets and its contribution for individual, community development in health aspect.
Mr. Jeevan Prakash Mohanthy, TERI fellow (representative from TERI ) Delhi addressed the audience told the advantages of using this cook stove and pleased to be partner with ODP and serve the community people and strengthened the network in the rural area.
The advantages of the stove are – 50% less consumption of fuel, 70% reduction in smoke, Reduces the cooking time, chopped locally available solid biomass etc.
Mr. Ali, Engineer, Zilla Panchayath Mysore expressed that, he has observed 100% usage of bio gas plants provided by ODP during his monitoring visit and the organization is implementing its work in a qualitative manner with serious follow ups

World Toilet Day will also be observed by providing awareness to SHG members at ODP working area – Mandya, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, Kollegala and H.D.kote on 22.11.2014 benefitting 800 members.
